I wish I had stayed at least another day to take in everything Gyeongju has to offer. Going with a guide who drove us around and knew all the ins and outs of restaurants and other places to visit was key to making our short visit so memorable.

In total spent around four days in Gyeongju and the surrounding area. The main part of the city is pretty typical of Korean cities. The main attractions are to the south. It is steeped in history and a great place to learn about Korean heritage. Tombs of former kings, partially recreated palaces, stunning bridges, fields of colourful flowers and some streets with fantastic restaurants and shops. Much of the historic area is laid out in beautifully maintained parks and gardens. A highlight and one of our favourite places on our 2.5 weeks trip to Korea. There are two national parks near by offering good walking opportunities. We undertook one short walk to Chilbul-am temple which was incredibly scenic.

Tourist area. But it was awesome. Lots of local tourists too so you know it's a good place to go to. Good food too. If you love history, you will love this place because you get to learn all about Korean history and the old kingdom.

A city with a rich history.
A city with a rich history. Lots of artifacts, museums, nature to enjoy. Very generous and comprehensive information from brochures can be easier found. Tourist information centers are really helpful places. The parks are really one of its kind....so beautiful and we'll thought out to make sure that all visitors can enjoy. Security is good in the touristy places.

The museum is well worth visiting, great displays tracing the history of Gyeonju and the Silla dynasty in well designed buildings and gardens.
Walk through the local parks with unusual burial mounds, with current excavations and the Wolgi pond with palace ( which is just 3 reconstructed open pavilions).
Bulguksa temple (free entry) is a must see, 30 min bus ride (10,11,711) from the main town. It’s set in a beautiful wooded area and has its own museum (2,000W).
The nearby grotto with stone Buddha is a bus ride (12) up the forested mountain and lovely walk, look for chipmunks darting through the trees.
We had a wonderful stay at Yasun Gallery. The host was so thoughtful and generous, she even made us gifts to take home. The delicious ginger tea and cake on arrival was exactly what we needed after our long journey, and we very much enjoyed our homemade morning breakfasts! We were nice and warm and comfortable in our room, especially with how cold it is in January. Thank you for a lovely stay. If you want an authentic traditional Korean experience, this is the place to stay. We will always remember our time in Gyeongju and your kindness :)
The hosts, Junny and her husband, are amazing. Junny is very available and takes good care of you. I was sick during my stay (bad case of the flu) and since I don’t speak Korean she accompanied me to the doctor and helped me get the meds that were prescribed to me. (Thanks again Junny 💜)
The main areas and my room were perfectly clean and I liked the atmosphere of the guesthouse. I would definitely stay there again.
It’s also well connected to the different sights in Gyeongju and to the bus stops for Bulguksa.
Great experience!
1. Clean, neat, spacious twin room and bathroom. The bed has linen (some other Korean hotels didn't have this). Double windows block any noise, although the street didn't seem to be noisy anyway.
2. A fully equipped kitchen on the 1st floor. There's even a lift (most other hotels didn't have it).
3. Good location: close to the bus terminal (walking distance). Close to the tombs.
4. Staff is polite and speaks English. Quickly responded to all messages. Kept my luggage after the check out.
Most of all, we were very impressed with the concierge staff. One evening, I fell (not near the hotel) and came back bleeding. The staff were simply incredible, helping with cleaning and dressing my cuts and scrapes. They even remembered me and asked how I was and if I needed anything the next day. The location was also pleasant, right on a lake with a nice view from our room. We had a wonderful balcony, and the room was very nice.
Best place to stay in Gyeonju! We are so glad that we stayed here in this traditional accommodation. It is super centrally located, next to the tombs and to the street full of restaurants and cafés, but quiet at night at the same time :) We slept so well! The hosts are super nice, and the breakfast was really complete. We have very good memories of this place from our whole stay in South Korea
Our stay was amazing. The location was perfect and the facilities were very charming and clean. We left behind sunglasses and our host flagged it immediately. She arranged to send them to our next destination which was truly above and beyond service for which we were very grateful. We highly recommend Adam Guesthouse for your visit to Gyeongju.
well located in Gyeongju. Even if the room was very tiny (as every Korean traditional guesthouse) the bathroom was so special, wide, clean and well furnished with cleaning products. We didn't have breakfast because we had to leave very early in the morning. Traditional Korean bed was very comfortable because the thick mattress.
The hotel was very central, you could easily walk to the main attractions.
The room was clean and very functional,
I like the bathroom where there was a small step separating the toilet and shower. One thing I didn't understand why in Korea in the hotel I have been , guests only get small towels, not bath towels?
Truly the perfect location and an incredibly aesthetic and comfortable place to stay. The amenities were top notch and the staff at the cafe were wonderful. The breakfast sandwiches were also delicious! I will definitely be returning to not only Gyeongju but StayAnGim as well ❤️
Loved the small continental that they offer, great boost of energy before your morning starts:) very close to all tourist attractions if you are here only for 2 days. Number 10 and 11 pass by. 2minute from bus station. Also laundry 24/7 is opposite the hotel:)
We had a very nice stay in G house. The lady from the reception was very nice and welcoming. The room was huge, the hotel is beautiful and very clean and tidy. The breakfast was really good and the kitchen was really clean. I would definitely come back.
The host was friendly. It was easy to walk to the historical sites in Gyeongju and also close enough to walk to the express and intercity bus terminals.
Simple breakfast of eggs, jam and butter- good enough to start the day.
We loved our stay at Siwoowadang. The Hanok is beautiful and within walking distance of so many of the sights in Gyeongju. We we were made to feel very welcome and the breakfast was amazing! We hope to return one day.
I loved the location. Very clean, modern hotel, good facilities. Big, comfy beds, kind staff, and staff are good at English. I will definitely stay at this hotel again. Best hotel in Gyeongju.
Great location and less than 10 min walking to the express bus station, easy access to the main sights of Gyeongju. Room was nice and clean and has everything needed.
