Take advantage of this 2-day small group package and visit Pyeongchang before the 2018 Winter Olympics! This is your chance to ski at one of the Olympic venues before it gets overly popular. If you are visiting from mid December to mid February, you will have the opportunity to participate in the Pyeongchang Trout Festival and during other times of the year, see famous cultural attractions such as Woljungsa Temple or visit the food stalls at Sokcho local market.
Day 1
At 8am, your small group tour will depart by bus from Myeongdong in Seoul and head to Yongpyong resort, which will host the alpine competitions during the 2018 Pyeongchang olympics. Yongpyong is commonly called the ” Alps of Korea” and is the first ski resort in Korea to offer modern facilities. Upon arrival at the resort, you will redeem your ski gear, ski clothing and gloves with your ticket.
For beginners, attend a basic ski lesson for around 30 minutes and then head to the slopes to ski on your own. For more advanced skiers, you can head to the slopes directly. After you finish skiing, head to the resort to check-in for the evening.
Day 2
Start your morning with a breakfast at the resort’s food court at from 8am to 9:30am. After breakfast, you will meet your driver to start your Pyeongchang local tour at around 10am.
From mid-December to mid-February, you will head to the town of Jinbu-myeon to attend the Pyeongchang Trout Festival. The drive is about 30 minutes and you will spend about 3 hours at the festival. There are many programs for families to enjoy, such as ice fishing, traditional folk games like sledding and top spinning, and other more adventurous activities such as 4-wheel ATV riding and snow rafting. You can have your freshly caught trout prepared at a nearby restaurant to enjoy for lunch.
At other times of the year, you will head to either Woljeongsa Temple or the Sokcho local market. Woljeongsa Temple is located in the forest, east of Mt. Odaesan. Enjoy the beauty and serenity of your surroundings with colorful buildings against nature as your backdrop. You can also opt for a local market visit to Sokcho as an alternative to the temple visit. Sokcho market is offers many food stalls and is where many locals come to shop for groceries. Try mansuk, a famous Korean dish of deep fried chicken tossed in sweet and spicy sauce, or a variety of seafood and other local specialties.
After your visit to either the Trout Festival, Woljeongsa Temple or the Sokcho local market, you will be transferred back to Yongpyong resort for some gondola sightseeing with free time to enjoy the view from the top. From the end of December to the end of February, you also have the option to do snow tubing as an activity.
At 5pm, you will take a shuttle bus back to Seoul and will be dropped off in Meyongdong.
